Each year, Nakasero Hospital treats thousands of patients from around the Great Lakes region and the
world at large. For patients traveling outside of their home country to receive services at a Nakasero
Hospital, our International Patient Services team offers seamless care designed specifically to your
unique needs and culture.
Nakasero Hospital is located in Nakasero, an upmarket part of the central business district of Kampala.
Due to its central location, proximity to amenities that are of interest to international patients is a stone’s
throw away. You will have quick access to the best shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, and a wide variety
of transport services.

Preparing for your visit
We understand that visiting another country for medical care can be a daunting exercise, At Nakasero
Hospital; our objective is to take the worry off your shoulders thus enabling your quick recovery and back
to more familiar surroundings. If possible, it would be great to inform us of you intended visit to the
hospital such that all preparations are made before your arrival. The International Patient Coordinator
would take this up from that point and be your personal guide throughout your stay with us and follow up
after your discharge. It is at this point that you can share your referral and medical documents to the key
contact for early preparation and appointment booking.
When you call our International Patient Coordinator, please prepare to discuss the following areas;

  1. Your medical history
  2. Your health insurance if applicable
  3. Any other inquiries regarding staying in Nakasero Hospital.
  4. Arrival

The hospital is able to arrange for airport pick-ups and drop offs for patients through utilizing one of our
many choices of ambulances.
On your arrival, you will be received by the front desk team who will alert the International Patient
Coordinator of your arrival. This officer will guide you on the process of receiving care in the hospital and
will be on hand for any other inquiry. Besides this officer, the Client Experience Supervisor will be on
hand to provide resolution to any issue you may have.

 

 

Admissions

If you visit turns out to require an admission, the International Patient Coordinator will guide you through
the range of accommodation options and this process shall be handled with you in the know of all options
available.

Your inpatient stay
While admitted with us, standard medical care will be provided to you and the international patient
coordinator team will be available to provide all other support.

Feedback
Each day, you will be visited by a customer care officer to check on your status and also collect any
feedback regarding the care you are receiving and any other areas of support you may require. We
request that you share any concerns with this officer as their focus is to address issues raised in real time.
We are able to provide translation services for patients that do not speak English. Feel free to
communicate this need beforehand so one can be arranged for you.
Discharge
The discharge process is designed to be as seamless as possible considering that your bills are updated
in real time and discussed with you each day of your stay. Once your doctor has completed your
discharge report, the process is expedited to ensure you leave the hospital as soon a possible.
For patients leaving the hospital by ambulance, this would have been prepared well in advance and
should not be a cause for further delay.
