Blood pressure
Two readings taken a few minutes apart, with your result placed on the standard risk scale.
Free blood-pressure, glucose and BMI checks, with cardiology consultants on hand throughout the day at the hospital forecourt. No appointment needed — walk in any time between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
About this event
Heart disease often develops quietly. Raised blood pressure, high blood sugar and unhealthy weight can go unnoticed for years, and the first sign is frequently an event that could have been prevented. World Heart Day is our annual reminder to check.
For one day, our primary care and cardiology teams move into the hospital forecourt to offer free screenings to anyone who walks in. Each check takes about fifteen minutes. Your results are explained on the spot, and if anything needs a closer look, a consultant is available to talk it through with you before you leave.
The camp runs alongside short talks on nutrition, physical activity and medication adherence, held in the adjoining tent throughout the day.
